Africans in Early North America: Communication

 The Transatlantic slave trade is believed to have displaced 12.5 million Africans between the 17th and 19th centuries; some 10.6 million survived the infamous Middle Passage across the Atlantic. Most were captured in West Africa.Hundreds of separate dialects emerged from different west African clans and tribes, in modern Nigeria, nearly 500 languages are still spoken.
